Summer Holiday in Japan 2009 – Day 4 – Himeji
Himeji is a small town that has only an attraction to see: its castle.
In these terms seems not worthwhile to visit this place, indeed, the castle in question is one of the most beautiful castles in Japan.
Himeji’s castle is one of the few original castles of the early 1600 remained perfectly intact. Is called the white heron castle for the color of its walls (while the other considered among the most beautiful castle is located in Matsumoto and is called the castle of the black crow as it has dark walls) and has joined the list of World Heritage sites in 1993.
For a visit to Japan is a must. Absolutely to see!
However, the visit to the castle and maybe a ride in some shopping mall at Himeji (as we did) takes no more than half a day, then in the afternoon we returned to Osaka and visited the area known as “Den Den Town” (which is basically the “Akihabara of Osaka”) full of electronics shops and Japanese toys like the one we visited dedicated to Gundam.
Bought a small souenir (a plastic model of Gundam) we returned to the hotel and in the evening we went with our Japanese friends to eat various things including a beautiful okonomiyaki and a delicious cake.
Even today we spent a wonderful day.
