If I’m sick what can I do?
The best way to solve health problems that may occur in your holiday is to have a specific medical insurance for the journey you have undertaken.
This must be activated before you leave (depending on the insurer, there are limits on the number of days before departure when you can activate the policy).
You must choose one that pay directly those who will cure you, otherwise you should anticipate the money to the health facility and then request a refund to the insurance company.
Some companies allow you to activate an insurance policy directly online using the Internet paying by credit card and then sending by fax the form that you manually signed (contract and details of insurance policies).
There are many insurance companies that offer these services but I recommend the Mondial Assistance insurance (in Italy is called “Mondial Care” but for other countries the name is different).
From the official website of Mondial Assistance, in the bottom of the page, choose the site for your country and then from there choose the type of insurance that most appeals to you.
This type of insurance usually provides a free international phone number you need to call in case of problems, that will permit you to have, instructions to follow (in your language) depending on your situation. They will then interact with the hospital in Japan.
Usually with medical insurance, you can activate other policy options that are not essential for a trip to Japan and it is up to you to decide whether to activate or not that options.
